RCCIWA Stakeholder and Member Engagement

It has been a very busy time with plenty of opportunities for strong and productive engagement with our stakeholders and members. A brief overview:

  • KDCCI – I visited Karratha earlier in the month to spend some time with Tanya Dodd the CEO of the KDCCI and was able to attend their Board Meeting as a guest – so got to catch up with the whole committee which was great. We are working on delivering the new Grow Local program to assist businesses with building their capabilities in order to be able to secure more work.
  • Augusta CCI – I visited Augusta and attended their networking sundowner which was a brilliant opportunity to meet existing and new members and find out what their key motivators and issues are. Four new members joined the Augusts CCI on the night which is fantastic.
  • MRCCI – I visited Margaret River and was very privileged to MC their annual Business Excellence Awards – what an incredible event. A big congratulations to the MRCCI for the collaborative and professional way they deliver this very important awards presentation. It was great to see the DYCCI and the Busselton CCI also in attendance.
  • Collie CCI – I was able to pop into Collie on the way home and spend some time with their dynamic CEO, Bec Woods. We were able to catch up on all of their activities and priorities.
  • RCCIWA Monthly Teleconference – we hold a monthly teleconference on the 2nd Tuesday of each month which is a great way to connect our members with each other and learn of the issues of importance for each of our members.
  • REDs Grants  - over this past month I have been chatting to many members regarding the Regional Economic Development grants and how we might assist with their submission. There are going to be many applications from our members which will really make a difference to their regional business and broader community.
  • Telstra Regional WA – Caught up with Boyd and Naomi over this past month to talk about how we can continue to work collaboratively to ensure our members and their members are informed and connected. We thank them for their ongoing support of RCCIWA.
  • Nbn Co – Caught up with Jane to discuss their offer of working with our members to deliver information sessions and briefings to ensure their local businesses have all of the information they need to be able to get the best broadband outcome. They have been contacting members directly to organise visit which is great.

Streamline WA – Have your input about ways to improve regulatory impact

Streamline WA is a whole-of-government initiative to make it easier to do business in Western Australia via better regulation and regulatory practices. Launched in December 2018, the initiative aims to encourage more investment and create more jobs in WA by developing better ways of creating and applying regulation, and improving how government interacts with business, industry and the community. It also seeks to reduce the barriers, costs and complexities of actually doing business.

Streamline WA is led by a steering committee, supported by regulatory and economic development government agencies, and in collaboration with industry and community group leaders. The initiative is being implemented by the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety, and the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation with support from the Department of Treasury.

RCCIWA will be contributing a submission, however we encourage you to do the same as well. For more info please go to their website here. If you have ideas on how to improve regulation, now is the time to let government know.
